RABBI LOREN FILSON LAPIDUS
Rabbi Loren Filson Lapidus joined the clergy team at The Temple in July 2008 and currently serves as Senior Associate Rabbi. She was ordained at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati in 2008 where she also received a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters. Additionally, she completed a Master of Education in Administration through a joint program with Xavier University in 2007. While at HUC-JIR, Rabbi Lapidus served congregations in Arkansas, Texas, South Dakota, Alaska, and Michigan.
Rabbi Lapidus is the chair-elect of the Ethics Committee for the Central Conference of American Rabbis (Reform movement’s governing body). Closer to home, her current community involvements include MACoM: Metro Atlanta Community Mikvah, American Jewish Committee-Atlanta, and Jewish Women's Fund of Atlanta. She is also studying at Mercer University towards a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, with an expected graduation of May 2025.
Rabbi Lapidus was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After completing her undergraduate studies in science from Pennsylvania State University, she decided to pursue a career in the rabbinate. Here at The Temple, Rabbi Lapidus draws on her experiences as the child of an interfaith family in providing opportunities for people of all backgrounds to feel more welcome and involved in the congregation through the Leven Family Jewish Identity Institute and Temple Mosaic.
Rabbi Lapidus is married to Rabbi Micah Lapidus, who is the Director of Judaic and Hebrew Studies at The Alfred and Adele Davis Academy, as well as The Temple's composer-in-residence. They have two children, Hadara and Caleb.
In 2020, Rabbi Lapidus and Rabbi Berg started "The Podcast from The Temple" which can be found at www.anchor.fm/thetemplatl or wherever you download your podcasts.
